One question that will change your life
The power of questions
When you ask yourself a question, it triggers a mental reflex known as instinctive elaboration.
When a question is posed, it takes over the brain’s thought process. And when your brain is thinking about the answer to a question, it can’t contemplate anything else.
Asking yourself a question prompts the brain to contemplate a behavior, which increases the probability that it will be acted upon.
A powerful question
Often, when I meet with clients, they are considering what is next in their business or career.
They usually come to me with a question, and, in turn, I find a way to ask them a powerful question.
A powerful question is a question that invites you into possibility.
It often feels scary to even consider, because of the tremendous possibility present in it.
A powerful question doesn't have an immediate answer.
The beauty in asking a powerful question is that you get to sit with it, not just for a few moments or even a day, but more like a year.
Viktor Frankl said,
“between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
If you were to ask yourself a powerful question that, if you asked yourself this question every morning for the next 365 days, it would transform your life, what would that question be?
