The status quo feels good

The problem with starting a new habit or committing to a goal or making a change is that the status quo feels so good.

You *think* the change you want is good and desirable and will make you better off than the status quo.

And yet there is resistance.

The reason for this is quite simple: your nervous system is wired for safety and survival, and anything other than the status quo brings uncertainty and a sense of danger.

For millenia, humans have had a singular focus: survival

Thriving is a luxury that has only been considered relatively recently in human history.

So you can thank your ancestors for any resistance you experience in making a new change.

But now that you are equipped with this knowledge, you can shift your approach to making a change.

When you feel the resistance, thank it.

Rather than allow it to derail you, acknowledge that it has been keeping you safe.

And then, you must reassure it that you’ve got this, and you aren’t in any real danger by making this new change.

The truth is, you are far more capable than you think.

You do have this.

Love,
