Is it too late for intrinsic motivation?
A lot of you probably went through your education being told what you needed to learn.
If you had the freedom to from your family, you probably got to experience choice in your education for the first time when you enetered college.
But those 4 years were likely quickly overshadowed by a paying job that once again chose for you what you needed to learn.
A few of you may have found a way to actually pursue learning that aligned with yoru interests and shaped your career along the same lines.
But for the vast majority of you, you probably a wondering, “isn’t it too late?”
Your whole life has been built around tuning into what other people wanted you to learn, and you may not be sure how to even begin learning for the joy of learning.

What social scientists know is that the deepest learning occurs when it is is preceded by your own interest.
No matter how far you are in your career, your brain is always capable of new learning, and making new connections.
There’s a good chance you have heard a small voice, the voice within, the voice of interest, trying to get your attention for a while.
You may have dismissed it as frivolous or unimportant.
But take a beat, and listen.
What is your interest trying to guide you toward?
Now is the best time to start honoring it.
Love,
Audrey
